Nature Walk: Crow Families

Posted on December 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM by Taylor Eisenhauer

Thanksgiving Crows

“Crows are gregarious birds with social ties to family groups or closely related individuals. One study found that the average group size was seven individuals, however you can often see two or three individuals sitting huddled close together. Siblings from pervious years often help care for young birds after hatching. Many crows migrate into cities during the winter where they roost in bare trees. Daily the birds stream out to forage in fields, or perhaps check out a fast food dumpster.” -Carl Kurtz
