Calling all nature photographers!

Do you have stunning nature images?
Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation publishes an annual wall calendar featuring photos of Iowa’s natural areas from local photographers. The calendar is a gift to INHF supporters and is available for purchase.
Part of this project involves collecting some of the best nature images from photographers across the state.
Tips
- March and November are often our most difficult months to fill so feel free to note these when you submit photos.
- We always need more photos from western and southern Iowa.
- Avoid including things like buildings, cars and human made elements, as those photos are less likely to be chosen
- Find a more detailed list of INHF’s current photo needs.

The submission deadline for the next calendar is June 1, 2026. However, INHF accepts photo submissions throughout the year for consideration in the next year's calendar and in our other publications.
Photo Submission Guidelines
We prefer to receive high-quality photos digitally through a WeTransfer, Google Drive or Dropbox link with PDF contact sheet. We also accept flash drive accompanied by a color contact sheet.
Digital images should:
- Be JPEG, TIF or RAW format (we prefer TIF or RAW format for use in the magazine and calendar)
- Be at least 300 dpi
- Include caption and photographer information in the file info
Contact sheets should include:
- Photographer’s name and contact information
- Notes of when and where each photo was taken, as well as any specific species information that you know of (this is very helpful for INHF staff)
