Meet Land Stewardship Assistant Morgan McAndrew

Plattsmouth, Nebraska native Morgan McAndrew is joining the Loess Hills land stewardship team as a temporary Land Stewardship Assistant. She is a recent graduate of University of Nebraska Omaha where she earned her degree in Environmental Life Science and held the position of Vice President of the Conservation Society at her school, where she was able to form a deeper connection with Nebraska’s native ecosystems.

Morgan spent last summer as a land stewardship intern at INHF where she was able to get hands-on experience in habitat restoration. This opportunity sparked her career aspirations in land stewardship and conserving the land she grew up loving and admiring.

Within her conservation work, Morgan is especially interested in soil health, regenerative agriculture and prescribed fire. She is excited to grow confidence as a sawyer and leader, and eager to get her hands dirty with the important, behind-the-scenes tasks of tending to a landscape.

“I love hearing stories about people in the public who have donated their land, money, or equipment to INHF,” said Morgan. “I think it is a great reminder that people have a deep connection and appreciation towards Iowa's native ecosystems, and INHF creates a space for these landscapes to be appreciated forever.”

If caught on a free day, Morgan enjoys reading, slacklining, sewing and being active outdoors.
