Greg Schmitt
Greg grew up in Balltown, in Dubuque County. His appreciation for wildlife and their habitats started at a young age when his dad taught him how to identify a Shagbark Hickory tree — because that’s where you’ll find the squirrels. He earned a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from ISU and gained a deep appreciation for Iowa’s prairie as a County Roadside Manager. Greg returned to the woods when he accepted a Private Lands Wildlife Biologist position with the Iowa DNR in 2005. Along with working on wildlife habitat projects at his home in Buchanan County, Greg also enjoys hunting, golfing and traveling with his wife.
Greg looks forward to meeting new people and finding commonalities that bring people together to make Iowa an even better place to live.
