Ryan Schmidt

Ryan grew up in the small southeast Iowa town of Keswick. He spent his early years hunting and fishing with his family on their family farms, all while developing a keen interest in and passion for Iowa’s flora and fauna. This interest led Ryan to pursue a degree in Environmental Science at Central College which further fueled his passion for native prairies and restoring habitat for Iowa's vulnerable species. When not working to restore Iowa’s precious natural areas, Ryan enjoys birdwatching, gardening, hunting, and spending time with his wife, Melanie.
