Bird Friendly Iowa is a statewide bird habitat conservation and educational outreach program created by a partnership of Iowa conservation organizations to recognize communities throughout the state that provided some focus on preserving birds. The initial outreach and action program of Bird Friendly Iowa was directed towards cities, similar to the Arbor Day Foundation's "Tree City USA" program.
Bird Friendly Iowa recently joined the Bird City Network which brings together communities from across the western hemisphere to showcase their accomplishments and share ideas for making their little parts of the world more bird friendly.
