Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, the Iowa Park Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to help kick off INHF's 2020 volunteer season and the Iowa State Parks Centennial!
We will be working at Volga River State Recreation Area to help native sand prairie plants thrive by removing invasive species. This is one of several INHF events being held at Iowa State Parks across the state this Saturday.
After working to restore sand prairie habitat, we will meet up at Heaven Boutique Winery for drinks. Everyone is welcome. Help us celebrate a great 2020 season and look ahead to a wonderful season! An RSVP is requested.
About Volga River State Recreation Area
Located in central northeast Iowa near Fayette, Volga River State Recreation Area is known for its rugged, largely undeveloped landscape. Featuring heavily wooded ridges and ravines, prairies and of course, the Volga River, Volga River State Recreation Area is an exciting setting offering unique habitat for plants and wildlife and a variety of outdoor recreation activities throughout the year.
Please wear/bring:
- Dress for the weather and wear layers, long pants and sturdy shoes
- A water bottle
- Work gloves (if you have them)
- All other equipment provided

Directions from Fayette: Head north on Hwy-150 for about 2 miles. Turn right onto 175th St. and drive to the intersection of I Ave/Ivy Rd. Turn right onto Ivy Rd and follow signs to parking area.
