Spring Into Action (Des Moines)

Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and our partners Blank Park Zoo, Polk County Conservation,  and Iowa River Revival for Spring into Action. The goal of this volunteer event is to improve the health of our woodlands by removing invasive plant species, like honeysuckle, and upcycling it into browse for the Zoo animals.   

An RSVP is required.

  • ACTIVITY: Habitat Restoration - Invasive Species Management
  • PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY: Easy, Moderate
  • REGISTRATION: Required
  • DEADLINE: Register by noon the day before
  • COST: Free
  • GROUPS ALLOWED: Yes
  • AGES: This event is appropriate for ages 8+. No experience necessary.

    Ages 12+ will be permitted use of hand tools.
    Ages 18+ will be permitted use of power tools and equipment.

  • WHAT TO BRING: It is recommended to dress for the weather, wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Bring a refillable water bottle and gloves if you have them.
