Enjoy fall and the migrating birds at the High Trestle Hawk Watch! This is a free family event with expert birders as your guides to the sky. Participants often see hundreds of hawks, falcons, eagles and turkey vultures as the birds follow the Des Moines River!
Event Details
- There will be an early bird hike at 6 a.m. for anyone interested in joining.
- Held rain or shine (cancelled if lightning); dress for the weather.
- Bring binoculars if you have them. There will be a limited amount to share.
- If you plan to stay awhile, bring food/drink and a lawn chair.
Location
The hawk watch will be at the High Trestle Trail's main viewing platform on the west side of the bridge. The closest parking lot to the High Trestle Trail Bridge is located at 2335 QF Lane, Madrid, IA 50156. The bridge is approximately 3/4 mile from the parking lot.
