Celebrating one year of Iowa By Trail
By Taylor on May 1, 2015 in Blog
It’s hard to believe a year has passed since the Iowa By Trail app launched last spring. The app has allowed users across the state to:
- Geo locate their position and find their closest trail.
- Find points of interest along Iowa’s trails, like local restaurants, museums and natural resource information.
- Communicate with friends and followers about what they did along the trail.
- Keep track of distance, weather, news and trail events.
We couldn’t be more thankful for all our members’ support of IBT, and we look forward to the future of Iowa trails. Before looking ahead, though, let’s a take a look back at our journey:
May 1, 2014 | Iowa By Trail launches for iOS users in Central Iowa.
INHF Digital Outreach Assistant Kerri Sorrell shows off the IBT app at its launch.
July 19, 2014 | The app officially launches statewide at the RAGBRAI Expo in Rock Valley. INHF gives app demos and showcases new features.
July 20-26, 2014 | The Iowa By Trail crew rides the whole RAGBRAI route, making media visits, holding app demonstrations, selling IBT swag and eating plenty of pie.

Now, INHF’s communications team will be working this summer to fine-tune the app by improving its media and points of interest, as well as adding hundreds more miles of trails. We’ll continue to make Iowa By Trail the best it can be.
