INHF Board Spotlight

This blog series highlights and acknowledges our dedicated board members. Lending their time and talents on a volunteer basis for the protection of Iowa’s land, water and wildlife, INHF’s 34-person board is an incredible show of dedication and expertise. INHF board members come from every region of the state, connecting our work with communities, landowners and organizations that help to make more conservation happen. Image of Wendy Wiedner, INHF Board Member Though Wendy grew up calling eastern Iowa home, she spent time camping in central Iowa and remembers enjoying trips to Iowa’s various lakes. She now works in West Des Moines as a certified public accountant and resides in Granger, close to some of her go-to outdoor spots. An avid walker, Wendy names the High Trestle Trail — a 25-mile trail through five towns and four counties — among her favorites.

Wendy was on the board when INHF began the High Trestle Trail project and has seen many seasons of change during her tenure, having joined more than 20 years ago after a former INHF board member and a partner in her CPA firm, Michael Riley, introduced her to INHF in 2001. She shares her accounting background and skills through INHF’s finance committee and has served as the Treasurer of the Board for many years. “I love serving on the board to make a difference to the Iowa of the future,” Wendy explained.
