Nature Walk: Native Sparrows

Finches such as the white-throated sparrow, american tree sparrow and song sparrows (left-right) usually migrate south after birds that feed primarily on insects like warblers. They are often found feeding in weedy fields, on field borders and on the seeds dropped by prairie wildflowers.  Later in the season these three species may also frequent backyard feeding stations.

Have you seen many finches at your backyard feeding stations lately? Do you have a favorite species that frequents your home?
