On Monday, March 23, at the State Capitol, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds and legislators recognized 18 individuals, families, businesses and organizations for gifts to Iowa’s future in 2014 in the form of land or land value for conservation.

Twelve of this year’s honorees worked with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation in 2014 to find the right options to permanently protect their land for conservation purposes.

“Gift to Iowa’s Future Day is always a highlight for us each year,” said INHF President Joe McGovern. “INHF’s work is always accomplished through partnerships, and our most significant partners are private landowners. Their gifts of bargain sales, easements, and donated property benefit projects on a large scale right from day one. Our work to protect Iowa’s land, water, and wildlife is exemplified by them and through them.”
