Join Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and Pheasants Forever for a tour of the Jim Wooley Family Tract in Madison and Clarke counties.
Visitors are welcome to come to the site starting at 5 p.m.There will be brief comments from partners at INHF and PF working on the project, and then we will take a tour of the property at 6 p.m. There will be ATVs available for those that prefer not to hike.
There will be snacks and refreshments available for attendees.
Registration is required.
Attire & equipment:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are hiking boots
- Water bottle
- Feel free to bring other desired items like a hiking stick, binoculars, field guide and/or camera, if you like!
- We have DEET available for protection against ticks and bugs. If you prefer a different repellent, please bring your own.
About the Jim Wooley Family Tract:
- 422 acres of woodland and grassland that will provide critical habitat for bird species such as Henslow’s sparrow, eastern meadowlark, ringneck pheasant and bobwhite quail.
- The site is adjacent to Heritage Hills WMA, creating a larger tract of habitat and recreation space.
- The site would eventually be open to the public for hiking, hunting and other recreation opportunities.
- INHF and Pheasants Forever are partnering to raise money for this $3 million project
