Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and Pottawattamie County Conservation will host a Landowner Legacy Night for landowners interested in learning more about the options available for protecting and passing on their land to future generations. A variety of land legacy and protection options will be covered, including:
- How to inform & involve loved ones
- Land stewardship options
- Estate & financial planning
- Understanding your tax advantages
- Cropland restoration & protection
- Private land conservation easements
- Involving a conservation entity in your decision
A group panel discussion featuring resource professionals will be followed by a breakout session. During the breakout, landowners will have the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with individual professionals that can help address their unique situation and provide them with additional resources to formulate a plan for their own land. Landowners who've been through this process will also be on-hand to discuss their experiences with making their own land-legacy decisions. There is no cost to attend the event. Light refreshments will be provided.
Due to limited seating, an RSVP is requested by Sunday, April 8. Please contact Jeff Franco, Operations Supervisor for Pottawattamie County Conservation at 712-545-3283 to register or email him at jeff.franco@pottcounty-ia.gov
Whether a decision is next year or decades away this event will offer something for every landowner who understands the importance of planning & would like a better understanding of the options available to them that can shape their land's future. Prior to attending, landowners may wish to explore some of the options open to them through the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation's Iowa Landowner Options website.
