Meet INHF's new Graphic Design Intern

Posted on January 17, 2023 in Blog

We’re pleased to introduce Madeline Shumaker as INHF’s newest graphic design intern. Madeline will be with us through spring semester, working on our magazine, calendar and other printed and digital outreach materials.

Madeline Shumaker, 2023 design internMadeline is from Des Moines but currently lives in Ames where she attends Iowa State University. She's double majoring in Graphic Design and Anthropology with a focus on cultural evolution. When  not in class or working, Madeline is likely hanging out in the woods behind campus with friends, preferably under a cottonwood tree looking for black-capped chickadees or foraging for golden oyster mushrooms. "They go super well with ramen and they’re free," says Madeline.

"I’m thrilled to have found an organization where I can combine my interest in both design and science and work at a place whose mission really resonates with me," Madeline shared. "I’ve spent my whole life in the woods and fields of Iowa and it feels good to give back to them."

Josh Harris, who began in the Fall as INHF's communications intern, has also stayed on to work through the spring and we welcomed back Bria Holthe, 2022 conservation programs intern, who will support our bat monitoring program. Learn more about INHF’s internship opportunities here.
