Staff Summer Reading Picks – Part II

Earlier this week we published the first installment of our INHF staff summer reading list, but we still have five more page-turning staff picks to share.

1. “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer – Now a major motion picture, this work of non-fiction chronicles the journey of Chris McCandless as he travels into the Alaskan wilderness.
2. “Off the Grid” by Nick Rosen – Journalist Nick Rosen travels across the United States to communities that are not dependent on municipal power or water supplies while exploring the unique subculture of “off the grid” living.
3. “A Sand County Almanac” by Aldo Leopold – A collection of essays perfect for anyone who is passionate about preserving the natural world and its beauty. A favorite among the staff!
4. “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau – For anyone who loves classic literature, “Walden” is one of the best odes to living among nature and enjoying the beauty of what is around you.
5. “A Passion for Nature: The Life of John Muir” by Donald Worster – The founder of the Sierra Club and an acclaimed conservationist John Muir gained recognition for his commitment to Yosemite National Park. Worster’s biography offers a complete look at the solitary life of one of American’s most famed mountain men.
