We all know that staying active is good for your body – but a new study proves that outdoor physical activity might also improve brain health.

recent article published in the Chicago Tribune argues that physical activities like hiking can actually help replenish overused cognitive reserves.

Psychologists at the University of Kansas and University of Utah found that individuals who spent extended periods of time outdoors, disconnected from technology, not only had higher brain function but also scored higher on creativity tests.

So use these new findings to enjoy Iowa’s natural areas and stay active – even if you need to wear a few extra layers during this time of year.
