Grab your cameras and start shooting! Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation announces our second “Through Your Lens” photo contest. You’re never too young to appreciate Iowa’s wild places! Submit your best nature shots for a chance to win a prize.

We currently have two age groups that can be entered into this contest. The Kids contest is for photographers 8-12, and the Students contest is for photographers 13-18. The contest is open to all participants, regardless of state residence.

Photo entries must adhere to the following:

  • Subject of photos must be of Iowa.
  • Previously published photos are not eligible.
  • Participants may submit no more than five (5) entries.

Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. The judges are a panel of photographers and artists responsible for selecting images for Iowa Natural Heritage and other print and online INHF materials.

The judging panel will select approximately ten (10) photos as finalists. The general public will select the Grand Prize Winner and Runners Up by popular vote from the finalists. There is a limit of one vote per person per day.

The Grand Prize Winner’s image will be prominently included in the Iowa Natural Heritage Winter 2015 issue. Second, third and fourth place photos will also be featured in this issue.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive an outdoor adventure prize package that the winner can customize to his or her interests. Value of package is $150. Second, third and fourth place winners will also receive an outdoor adventure prize package valued at $75, $50 and $25 respectively.
