Archaeology at Heritage Valley & River Float

Float through the spectacular scenery of Heritage Valley with plenty of stops to learn about the archaeological significance of the area from Professor Colin Betts. Experience the wildness of the Upper Iowa River led by veteran paddler Vern Fish. Peek into the diverse array of ecosystems found within this remote ecological preserve and learn about INHF’s role in protecting it. 

Paddlers should bring their own lunch.  Rental boats arranged upon request. Lifejackets required.

Archaeology at Heritage Valley led by Colin Betts, professor of archaeology at Luther College & Canoe/Kayak Float on the Upper Iowa River led by Vern Fish, former director of Black Hawk County Conservation and INHF board member

Open to the public, space is limited.

Appropriate for experienced paddlers ages 10 and up.

9 a.m. meet-up; float concludes mid-afternoon.
